Ronon passed his certification exam to join Comfort Caring Canines last night. He's a therapy dog now and I couldn't be more proud.
Ronon and I had very different perceptions of an interaction we had on a walk a few days ago.
It takes a LOT to keep a large, young, energetic dog enriched and content when you live in an urban apartment. A dog's gotta dog, you know?
Having to schedule every day so Ronon isn't alone is restrictive, stressful, and frustrating. I adore him, and he's a good boy in almost every way, but sometimes he's just too much!
Training Ronon has been a challenging and different experience. I'm learning to be a better communicator and to pay better attention to what he is trying to tell me.
On the days Ronon goes to LWD, I can only go into the office for the first half of the day. My life would be so much easier if he could stay all day though. When I picked him up today, I asked Kenzie (the manager, who is awesome) if she thought he was adjusting well enough that we could…
Our first attempts at doggy daycare were extremely disappointing, but Ronon loves Little White Dog Daycare.
Ronon and just I moved to a new apartment. His new self-confidence and resiliency show in how well he is handling our second move together.
I decided today that a transformation as epic as Ronon's deserves a dedicated journal, hence this website.
Ronon got his BCAT title this weekend. He's figuring out how it all works (the waiting is the hardest part) and really seems to enjoy running.

Ronon tried Fast CAT for the first time this weekend. We'll definitely be doing this again.
Today was our first visit to a truly large dog park, and a great chance to practice Ronon's recall.
Ronon and I are walking to raise funds for the Support Center for Child Advocates and their work on behalf of young people who have experienced abuse and neglect in Philadelphia.
Ronon and I are taking our first road trip in June. I hope this will the first of many for us.
After Ronon gets the big dog zoomies, I have to move the furniture back where it belongs.
Ronon is finally comfortable enough outside in the VERY early morning that I was able to put "a tired dog is a good dog" to work for me today.
There are lots of stories to tell about the last week, but Ronon the Woof is officially a Philadelphia dog. And he has a teddy bear. 🧸 ❤
When I got Ronon home to Philly, he was TERRIFIED, out of control, peeing on everything. and noisy. I was exhausted, dirty, broke, and having an emotional breakdown!
I first met Ronon in a parking lot near Indy. He was nervous, a bit wild, and he STUNK. I was exhausted and still grieving Snickers. Not a great start.
